What is Licensing?

Licensing is the legal agreement between Unleeshed and partners that grants access to generate and display persona commentary. Without a license, you cannot access a persona’s AI — period.

Licensing protects everyone: you get clear commercial rights, personas get compensated and control their likeness, and audiences get authentic content.

What a License Grants You

When you license a persona, you receive:

Right	Description
Generation Access	API access to generate commentary from this persona
Name & Likeness	Permission to display their name, photo, and branding
Commercial Use	Right to monetize content (ads, subscriptions, etc.)
Output Ownership	You own the generated commentary for your use
Attribution Terms	Clear guidelines on required attribution

License Types

Standard License

For most partners. Includes:

Unlimited commentary generation
Text output
Web and mobile display rights
Standard attribution requirements

Premium License

For high-volume or premium use cases:

Everything in Standard
Audio output (persona’s AI voice)
Video output (AI avatar)
Broadcast/streaming rights
Reduced attribution requirements

Enterprise License

Custom terms for large organizations:

Custom generation limits
Dedicated infrastructure
SLA guarantees
Co-marketing opportunities
Custom persona development

License Status

Each license has a status:

Status	Meaning
`active`	Full access, license in good standing
`expiring`	Active but renewal needed soon
`suspended`	Temporarily disabled (billing, terms issue)
`expired`	No longer valid, renewal required

Attribution Requirements

All licenses require attribution. The specific requirements depend on your license tier:

Premium Attribution

More flexibility:

Persona name (required)
Persona image (optional)
Unleeshed attribution (can be in footer/about page)

Licensing FAQ

Can I use commentary in paid content?

Yes, all license types include commercial use rights. You can display commentary behind paywalls, in subscription products, or alongside advertising.

Can I edit the generated commentary?

Minor edits for formatting, length, and platform fit are allowed. Substantive changes that alter meaning or misrepresent the persona’s views are not permitted.

What happens when a license expires?

You lose API access to that persona
Previously generated content can remain displayed
New generation requests will fail
Renewal restores full access

Can I license a persona not in the catalog?

Yes! We work with partners to onboard new personas. Contact partners@unleeshed.ai to discuss custom persona development.

Are there usage limits?

Standard and Premium licenses include generous limits that cover most use cases. Enterprise licenses can include custom limits. Check your agreement or the Partner Dashboard for specifics.
